Here is some information about the 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000 that some say has caused serious injury accidents:

The 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000 has had reported cases of where the frame has fallen apart. This may be due to weak frame welds. There was an accident where a sport bike champion lost both his legs in a motorcycle accident from the frame coming apart. Riding a bike with a serious malfunction, such as the weak frame welds on the Suzuki GSXR-1000, can cause severe injuries that will substantially alter your life, or sometimes result in death.

On January 15, 2009 Suzuki issued a recall for the 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000. It is the voluntary safety recall campaign #2A08. If you are an owner of a 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000, you should have received a written notification from Suzuki giving you notice of the recall.

In their service bulletin they stated: “Suzuki has received reports of cracking or breakage of the motorcycle frame in certain extreme situations where unusually high stress is placed on the frame, such as collisions involving the front wheel/fork assembly.

Suzuki has also received reports of cracking or breakage of the frame behind and below the steering neck when the motorcycle is subjected to repeated hard landings from hazardous maneuvers such as extreme or extended wheelies or other stunts. Suzuki believes that this type of driving activity is reckless - and illegal when performed on a public roadway - and does not condone it. If the frame becomes broken during this type of extreme use, a crash could occur. While ordinary operation of the motorcycle does not create a risk of cracking or breakage of the frame, Suzuki has decided voluntarily to conduct this Safety Recall to minimize the potential for frame cracking or breakage in the circumstances described above.”

People who ride their bikes and perform stunts are putting extra stress onto their Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycle. However, hitting a pothole while riding your motorcycle can likely cause the same damage!

What is Suzuki going to do for you? Dealers will inspect the relevant area of the frame for cracks. If no cracks are found, a frame reinforcement brace will be attached to the frame using bolts and epoxy adhesive. Should cracks be found during the inspection, the frame will be replaced with a new frame that has the reinforcement brace installed.

If you own a 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000 do not wait for it to fall apart! Make sure you take it to your dealership where they can inspect the frame and do the necessary replacements. If you were involved in a 2005-2006 Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycle accident due to the frame welding, make sure you call us today so we can help you get started on building a accident injury case!
